Carrollwood Termite Treatment: No Tent, No Moving Out

Sixty-year-old frame houses
Carrollwood Elementary opened in 1963. The tornado outbreak came through in April of 1966. The community pushed west through the seventies and eighties into what is now Carrollwood Village, and Lake Magdalene sits to the north, Egypt Lake to the south.
What matters for termites is not the address. It is how much wood is in the house and how long it has been standing. A 1964 frame house around Lake Carroll has had six decades for a colony to find it, and drywood termites live inside that wood rather than under the slab.
Tenting is not the only answer
Most people hear termites and picture a tent. Fumigation does work, and on some houses I will tell you it is what you need.
Here is what does not get explained. When the tarps come off, the gas goes with them. Nothing stays in your wood, so the following spring your house is exactly as available as it was before. We have treated whole houses tentless since 2003, putting borate into the wood where it stays. Nothing is known to take it out. The house keeps working and you never move out of it.
Whole house or hot spot
Ask whoever quotes you. Most treat the one spot where pellets showed up. That is less product, less time, and a smaller number, and every other stick of framing in the house stays untreated.
The guarantee
If the bugs come back, so do we. You see something during your warranty year, you call, and we come back out and retreat at no additional cost. Keep it current and you can carry that for life.
Here's the honest reason not to sit on it. A drywood colony takes about five years to get big enough to throw swarmers, the winged ones that leave and start new colonies somewhere else in your house. Once that starts, one colony becomes several, and several becomes dozens. Caught early it's a straightforward job. Caught late, I've seen it take years to track them all down. That's not a sales line. That's just how they work.
