Coby here with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, and today we’re going to be talking about, what should we do if we got rats in a house? Should we throw some bait up there, or should we go ahead and trap them? So it’s a personal preference, and many times, if you bait for a rodent, it will go outside and die. Now what? Almost always, no matter who you buy the rep bait from, they’re going to tell you the same thing. It makes them thirsty, and they’re going to go outside and and die. That’s not true, and so whenever you it’s anticoagulant, it’s basically Coumadin, so it’s a hard medicine for for people, doesn’t make people thirsty, it just thins their blood out so they don’t get blood clots. Well, same thing it does for the rats, and they can’t clot, and therefore that’s a hemorrhage and die. So you never know where that’s going to happen. And so if you want to do that, that is by far the easiest and cheapest method to go ahead and do. But where they’re going to die you don’t know. And so that’s something you have to interfere with you. And if that doesn’t do the trick, then you want to go over to traps and in the trap, things stay away from the big wooden traps. Why? Because they have actually built a better mousetrap now. And T Rex and the style of those traps, they’re like that. They are just you can with one hand, click and they’re set, versus you setting them and snapping your fingers and stuff like that. I have snapped my fingers on multiple occasions, and how I didn’t break them, I do not know, but I don’t use wooden traps anymore. For that reason. They are very, very sensitive, which is good thing, but they also are they’re just not the better mouse trap, best way to say it, so use that. And what I like to do is, when I’m using a trap, I like to go ahead and put two things for for rats. Now mice, there’s a bunch of different ways to chat for my school, but rats are the ones we’re talking about today. And for for the rats, Peter butter works excellent, as well as Slim Jims, they are kind of worse. They will eat something that is, it is meat, as well as each other. They can be on bad infestations. You’ll see them. You’ll see nothing but a skin of the rat left over where they’ve literally turned it inside out and and the body is gone, skin and hairline, and that’s a good indication that you have a very bad population and and it’s going to take some time to get rid of that. But anyways, getting back to I like to take the trap, and with the with the style of traps that I’m referring to, whether they’re open or closed, they look very similar. And so if you put a trap into an area where rodents are at, they’re going to go ahead be Skitch in the beginning, because it’s something new. But if you put it in there and it’s not set, and you just go ahead and you put some peanut butter or or them, and they get used to eating it, and after a while, then you set the trap, they’re like that, and now they’re not expecting anything to happen, because they’ve gotten free meals up to this point. The other thing I like to do is, I like to give them a free meal. So around the trap, I will go ahead and set peanut butter and or some gyms around those outside of there, and then they eat, eat, eat, and then when they get to the trap, they’re not expecting a trip, because nothing tripped beforehand. So those are the two methods that I’ve used over the years, and they’ve been really effective. So I hope that that gives you some idea on how to go ahead baits versus traps. And if you’re going to use traps some different ways to go ahead and utilize them, there’s a ton of other stuff. And I’m sure there’s, there’s other people who who’ve done better YouTube videos about this than I have, but just to kind of flip it down for you. But any other question about this or anything else, please give us a call. I’m Coby here with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, and always remember everyone God keeps making them, we will keep killing them. You have a great day. Do.
