Here’s the way I look at it. If we’re treating inside your home, that means something already got in and we’re correcting a problem. If we’re treating outside, we’re preventing that problem from ever happening. Most of what we do is the second one. We’d rather stop them at the door than go looking for them once they’re already in your kitchen.
Here’s what our service looks like. We treat a barrier around your house, and while we’re doing that, we’re also checking under your windowsills and around every door and window, because that’s where bugs work their way in.
We look up too. Spiders are opportunistic. They’ll set up wherever the conditions are right, and outside lights that draw insects at night are exactly the kind of spot that gets their attention, so we treat around those. If you’ve got a pool cage, we check inside it, since a screened enclosure gives them the same opportunity.
We look at your mulch beds and the areas around your shrubs, because heavy mulch holds moisture and gives bugs somewhere to hide close to your foundation.
We’ll treat your eaves and soffits, and we’ll check your gutters and downspouts to see if water’s draining the way it should, since standing water and clogged drainage create exactly the kind of harborage areas that invite pests in. And on the ground, we’re checking your driveway and sidewalk for ant mounds and trails working their way toward the house.
The whole time we’re out there, we’re not just running through a checklist. We’re looking for anything out of the ordinary that might need something extra beyond the standard treatment. Now, we do go inside when it’s called for. If you’re already seeing roaches, ants, drain flies, centipedes, or something else crawling around, we’ll come in and treat it directly. But for most homes on a regular schedule, staying on the outside is what keeps the inside pest-free in the first place.
