Safety Harbor Pest Control and Termite Treatment: No Tent, No Moving Out

Moss-draped oaks over brick streets is what people love about Safety Harbor. It's also shade, moisture, and a lot of wood sitting close to houses, which is a fair description of ideal termite conditions.

The inspection is free. We come out, look at what you've actually got, and tell you straight. If it turns out you don't have termites, we'll tell you that too, and you're out nothing.

The oaks cut both ways

Philippe Park has been here since 1948, the oldest park in Pinellas County, ninety-odd acres of hardwood canopy on Old Tampa Bay. The Tocobaga temple mound in it is a National Historic Landmark. That tree cover runs right through town.

Count Odet Philippe planted the first citrus in this part of Florida out there in the 1840s, and some of those trees are still on the property. Shade holds moisture, and moisture is what subterranean termites follow up out of the ground. Meanwhile the older housing stock near downtown and the Resort gives drywood termites what they actually want, which is wood they can live inside. Pinellas County's median house dates to 1977 and plenty of Safety Harbor beats it.

Tent or no tent

On a street of mature oaks and established landscaping, tenting costs you more than money. Tarps go over everything.

Fumigation does work, and I'll tell you when it's the call. What it won't do is leave anything behind. We've treated whole houses without a tent since 2003, putting borate into the wood where it stays, so your framing keeps working against them after we're gone. Nobody moves out.

Whichever you choose, ask if it's the whole house or just the spot you found.

Roaches and ants

All that canopy and mulch is a highway for palmetto bugs. German roaches need a real cleanout and monthly visits. Ghost, pharaoh, and fire ants each behave their own way.

A maintenance visit lays a treated band about four to six feet wide around the house, wall and ground, and covers the eaves, the beds, and the shrubs.

What it runs

Termite pricing follows square footage under roof, garage and porch included. Your house moves the number, which is why there's no phone quote. General pest depends on the lot.

The guarantees

On termite work: if the bugs come back, so do we. No additional cost during the warranty year, carryable for life.

On general pest control: one hundred percent happy or you don't pay a penny.

Here's the honest reason not to sit on it. A drywood colony takes about five years to get big enough to throw swarmers, the winged ones that leave and start new colonies somewhere else in your house. Once that starts, one colony becomes several, and several becomes dozens. Caught early it's a straightforward job. Caught late, I've seen it take years to track them all down. That's not a sales line. That's just how they work.

Call and we'll come look. The look costs you nothing.
