This was a cattle ranch until 1958. LaMonte-Shimberg bought a 525 acre dairy farm off the Webb family and started building. By 1978 they had put up more than eight thousand houses. Nearly all of them are now old enough to interest a termite.

Eight thousand houses, one twenty year build
The original Town 'N Country Park subdivision went in near Hillsborough Avenue and Memorial Highway. The name now covers everything from the Pinellas line and Oldsmar on the west to Tampa International on the east, Tampa Bay south and Linebaugh Avenue north. Eighty-six thousand people live in it.
Because it went up in one long stretch between 1958 and 1978, the housing here is remarkably consistent in age, and that age is the part that matters. Drywood termites live inside the wood rather than in the ground, so decades of standing frame construction is what they are looking for.
A tent is three days of your life
Fumigation works. On a badly infested house I will tell you to do it. But understand what it buys and what it does not. It kills everything in the structure the day it runs, then the gas leaves with the tarps and your wood is unprotected again.
Our whole house tentless treatment has been running since 2003. The borate goes into the wood and stays put, nothing is known to remove it, and the house keeps defending itself. Nobody bags food, boards pets, or sleeps anywhere else.
Coverage is the real variable
When you compare quotes, ask whether it is the whole house or only the spot where you found pellets. Most quotes are the spot. Less product, less time, smaller number, and the rest of the framing untouched.

If the bugs come back, so do we. You see something during your warranty year, you call, and we come back out and retreat at no additional cost. Keep it current and you can carry that for life.
Here's the honest reason not to sit on it. A drywood colony takes about five years to get big enough to throw swarmers, the winged ones that leave and start new colonies somewhere else in your house. Once that starts, one colony becomes several, and several becomes dozens. Caught early it's a straightforward job. Caught late, I've seen it take years to track them all down. That's not a sales line. That's just how they work.
