How Long Does Tentless Termite Treatment Last?
Hi, I’m Coby McConnell, president of Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control. Since 1986 I’ve been helping people get rid of their termite and pest problems in the Tampa Bay area, and today I’m answering a real question: how long does a tentless termite treatment actually last?
If you’re old enough to remember the Tootsie Pop commercials, you know the one. The kid keeps asking how many licks it takes to get to the center, and the answer at the end is “the world may never know.” That’s honestly the most accurate answer I can give you here too, and I’ll explain why.
The borate products we use go into the wood and stay there. Once they’re in, nothing is known to take them back out. They’re permanent. So if nothing removes it, the honest answer to “how long does it last” is indefinite. Nobody’s run a scientific test proving that, because there’s nothing to test for. The borate just doesn’t go anywhere.
The transfer products we use are a little different. Those have real published data behind them: they’ve been tested in the ground and checked every year for fifteen years, and they’ve held ninety-five to ninety-seven percent effective across that whole span. The testing stopped after fifteen years, not because the product stopped working, but because that’s where the study ended.
So the real answer is: a long time, probably longer than anyone’s actually measured. And we don’t just leave it at that. We come back and inspect once a year, for as long as you keep the warranty active, which you can carry for life. If you see something in between those inspections, that’s what the guarantee is for. If the bugs come back, so do we.
How long does it last? The world may never know exactly, but it’s protecting your home for a lot longer than most people expect, on what’s probably the biggest investment you’ve got.
